Marie Tystahl Grubb, age 89, of Radcliffe, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Hubbard Care Center, Inc. in Hubbard. Funeral services were held Friday, March 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Burial was at the Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe.

Marie (Eike)Tystahl Grubb was born on Dec. 22, 1920 on the family farm south of Salem Lutheran Church. She was one of five children born to Elmer and Gyda (Berven) Eike.

She was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church, where she remained a life-long member. She received her education by attending rural "Salem" School near he home. She attended Radcliffe High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1938. After high school, she taught at rural "Salem" School.

Marie was united in marriage to Vern Tystahl in 1941. They farmed in the Williams, Alden and Iowa Falls areas, moving to Radcliffe in 1947. They farmed west of the church until Vern died in 1972. In 1976, Marie was married to Joel Grubb at the Salem Church. They lived on the Berven homeplace until they retired to Story City.

Death came to Marie early Wednesday morning, March 24 2010 at the Hubbard Care Center.

Those thankful for having shared he life include her husband, Joel of Story City; one son, Ronald Tystahl and his wife, Joan of Radcliffe; one son-in-law, Howard Cakerice of Grundy Center; two step-sons, Ron Grubb and his wife, Chris and Roger Grubb; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Brinkmeyer of Hubbard; one brother, Wendell Eike of Radcliffe along with many relatives and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vern, daughter, Karen Cakerice, great-grandson Richey Johnson, sister Kathryn Hendrickson and brother, Everett Eike. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church.
