PORT LAVACA - Dalton R. Wood, 79, of Port Lavaca passed away January 17, 2015. He was born April 1, 1935 in Port Lavaca.

He is survived by one sister, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lima Wood, four sisters: Beth Wheeler, Eris Brown, Floris Roemer and Louivaile Harris and two brothers: Seth Wood and Royce Wood.

Dalton loved country music and he also loved gospel singing. He had a really good bass voice and could read music well, so it was a treat to sit next to him when singing gospel songs and hymns.

He enjoyed studying his Bible and taught many students through the World Bible School evangelistic program, but because of his health problems has not been able to be active in that work for a number of years. Memorials to this evangelistic effort would be fitting: P. O. Box 2169 Cedar Park, Texas, 78630.

He enjoyed attending the Wood family reunions. Home and family were important to him. We will miss him here, but as his mother wrote in a song we will sing later, we must go "Forward together with God."
John 14:1-3

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

A graveside service will be held at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with Wayne DeDear officiating. Richardson Colonial Funeral Home of Port Lavaca is in charge of the arrangements. 361-552-2988. Published by Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.
