AND SEVERAL GREAT GRANDCHILDREN

Mrs. Harriet Savery Howland; wife of Calvin Howland, late of Chiltonville,

current events, was unusually active mentally and wrote letters to various
relatives and friends, of whom she had many.
She is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. Bourne, and a number of
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday afternoon
in her late home, and interment was made in Chiltonville cemetery.
Mrs. Howland was a daughter of Penelope (Swift) Savery of Middleboro,
whose father was John Swift of Plymouth, was a grandson of Jane Faunce,
the grand daughter of Elder Thomas Faunce, the last ruling elder of the old
Pilgrim church organization of Plymouth, and the man who identified Plymouth

Jane Faunce married Joshua Swift in 1738. All of these descendants of John
Faunce who came to this country from England in the ship Ann in 1623, were

Patience, born Nov. 7, 1673 and who became the wife of Ephraim Kempton,
died in Dartmouth, aged 105 years, six months and three days according to
the records of Plymouth. John Swift, grandfather of Mrs. Howland, was a
