Ray E. Thorp, 95, of Troy, Pa., passed away on Dec. 19, 2006 at Bradford County Manor. He is the husband of the late Kathryn (Ayers) Thorp who passed away on Nov. 20, 1990. The couple married in July of 1931 and had 59 years together.

Ray was born on Feb. 19, 1911 in Hector, N.Y. He was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Johnson) Thorp.

Ray was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways where he did road maintenance, worked for the Horseheads Brick Plant running the brick-making machine and was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on Armenia Mountain and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray attended the Baileys Corners Church.

Ray's family include: his son, R. LaRue (Judy) Thorp of Troy, Pa.; his daughter Janet T. Weed of Troy, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mariella Kier of Athens, Pa. and Vivian Mattocks of Leona, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by: his wife Kathryn; his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Helen L. and Warren B. Inman; his son-in-law, Kenneth L. Weed; and brother Robert F. Thorp.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, Pa. The funeral service will be held after the viewing at 8 p.m. on Friday night. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
