"Seymour Claude Wellman was born in Richland, Iowa, June 11, 1877, being a member of a family of nine children, the father and mother having departed this life some years ago. One sister, Mrs. Ida Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri, preceded him in death.

Those surviving are W. W. Wellman of Lebanon, Mo., F. L. Wellman of Billings, Montana, A. G. Wellman of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. E. A. Adams of New York City and Mrs. G. F. Kloer of Chicago, Illinois.

At the age of two, he, along with his parents, Reverend and Mrs. L. L. Wellman, and the other children moved to Brookfield, Missouri, where the deceased has since resided, with the exception of perhaps two years, which he spent in Marceline, Missouri, at which time he united with the Christian church of that place.

At the age of twenty years he was united in marriage with Miss Edith Hall of Marceline, on December 13th, 1897. To this happy union were born five children, twin sons who died in infancy, and three daughters, namely Mrs. Clyde Moling of Brookfield, Miss Bertha Wellman of Kansas City and Mrs. Lotus Snider of Brookfield, who, together with the loving and devoted wife and two grandchildren, Dorothy Ilene and Herbert Eugene Moling, are left to mourn his passing.

The deceased, since early manhood, had been a victim of creeping paralysis, but despite his affliction he tried always to look on the bright side of life, and to the end he maintained this attitude. At 8:22 p.m. on August 3, after over a month of intense suffering, he departed this life to meet those of his loved ones who had gone before and to await the coming of those who have yet to pass into the Great Beyond."
