William 'Ernest' Goodson, of Ardmore, was born March 18, 1919 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to William "Chuck" and Ava (Fox) Goodson.
He passed away July 11, 2012 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years.
Pauls Valley had been his home all of his life and in Ardmore for the past 4 years to be closer to the children. Ernest married Esther 'Marie' Wages in Sulphur, Oklahoma on August 26, 1939. He was a member of Pauls Valley Church of Christ.
Ernest owned and operated the G & D Wheel & Brake. He loved and built race cars until his health caused him to slow down. His son, Bari Lynn and grandson, Mikie, has raced cars that he had built. He also enjoyed other outdoors activities especially hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Ava Goodson; his wife, Esther Marie Goodson on June 2, 2012; and a grandson, Larry McMillian and a brother, Joe Goodson.
Surviving family include his three sons and their wives, Gary and Glenda Goodson of Sour Lake, Texas; Bari Lynn and Kena Goodson of Lone Grove; and Ernest Dale and Iris Goodson of Ardmore; seven grandchildren, Geffory Goodson, Kristy Levin, Bobby Goodson, Jerry Goodson, Debbie Oliver, Mike Goodson and Kelly Pearce; fifteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd Goodson, of Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:30 am at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by John Curtis. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
