SHOCKING ACCIDENT

Lee McLimans Falls from Wagon and Dies Instantly.

_______

Robt. Lee McLimans met accidental death in a shocking manner Wednesday eve at this home in the western part of the city.

Mr. McLimans with his wife and two little sons had been down on his farm between Lancaster and Potosi during the day, arriving home about 8:30 p.m. Mrs. McLimans alighted from the conveyance and opened the gate that her husband might drive into the door yard. Then she proceeded to the house for a lantern.

During the short space of time in which she was gone the tragedy was enacted and no one will ever know just how it occurred for there were no witnesses to the catastrophe.

When Mrs. McLimans returned she found her husband prostrate on the ground some twenty feet from the wagon and the horses madly tearing around the yard.

She called for help and several neighbors responded promptly. The unfortunate man was carried into the house and a physician quickly summoned. It was of no use however as Mr. McLimans was dead and when the doctor arrived and examined him it was discovered that his neck was broken and that death must have resulted instantly.

Evidently the fractious team he was driving became unmanageable and in the mix-up he was thrown from the vehicle, striking upon his head. It was not deemed necessary to hold an inquest.

Deceased was about thirty-five years of age and was born in the town of Liberty. His wife is a daughter of Walter Hickin of North Lancaster and they were married about six years ago. Robt. McLimans of Fennimore is his father and his mother, two brothers and two sisters also survive.

It is a sad blow to the young wife and little sons and the good woman is prostrated with grief over the bereavement that has befallen her. The sympathy of all goes out to her.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 p.m. today.
