HOPEWELL - Mr. Claiborne Lee Cabaniss, Sr., 78, died Wednesday, October 7, 1992 at his residence, 3501 Portsmouth St, Hopewell, Va. He was a native of Petersburg, Va. and was the son of the late Johnsey Lee and Marigold Edwards Cabaniss. Mr. Cabaniss was a Veteran of World War II, member of the V.F.W. and was retired from Continental Can, Hopewell. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret P. Cabaniss, Hopewell; four daughters, Mrs. Catherine C. Cooley and Mrs. Mary C. Creegan, both of Richmond; Mrs. Margaret C. Little of Chester; and Mrs. Rose C. Smothers of Bluefield, W.Va.; two sons, Johnsey Lee Cabaniss, II of Roanoke; Claiborne Lee Cabaniss, Jr. of Richmond; two brothers, Gerald E. Cabaniss of Petersburg; and William B. Cabaniss of Chester; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. James E. Maggard pastor of Broadway Baptist Church, Hopewell officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday and Friday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
