In 1950 she married the love of her life Alfredo DeLeon. Esther and Alfredo migrated to Washington state in 1968 then settled in Grandview in 1975. Esther worked 24 years at Twin City Foods, upon retirement in 1998 she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, especially around the Holidays, making her favorite meals, tamales, her turkey stuffing and her famous refried bean tacos for all her grandkids to enjoy. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers but the time she truly cherished was the time she spent with her family whom she loved so dearly.
Esther was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA. and an active member of the Guadalupana Church group from 2000-2012.
Esther is survived by her children Susana Rodriguez (Emilio Alonzo) of Grandview, WA, Elvira Cardenas (Joe) of Texas, Virginia Posada of Wapato, WA, Frances Saenz (Daniel) of Grandview, WA, Rosa (Chelo) DeLeon-Jasso (Art) of Grandview, WA, Adelaida DeLeon of Prosser, WA. and Steven DeLeon of Grandview, WA. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and by 3 sisters, 7 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Cruz and Francisca Santellana, her husband, Alfredo DeLeon Sr., her son Alfredo DeLeon Jr., one brother Amado Santellana and 2 grandchildren.
Viewing and visitationtook place with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at the Smith Funeral Home in Grandview, WA. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA.
