Son of William Tolbert Letcher 1873-after 1930 and Lou E. Collins 1880-1937, both born in Bowie County, Texas. Census reports indicate they had three daughters and one son, Harvey D. Letcher. In 1930 William Tolbert Lecther is living in Plaquemine Parish, Louisiana, working as a Barber, where much of his family is from and there are no records after that date. There is a Union County, Arkansas death record for a W. T. Letcher in 1938 but no memorial has been found there or in neighboring Claiborne Parish, Louisiana where some of his family is found.

The father of William Tolbert Letcher is Pvt. Stephen Baker 'Bake' Letcher 1845-1931, a Civil War veteran of the CSA, born in Alabama and died in Texarkana, Bowie County, Texas, and is buried in the Rock Creek Cemetery south of New Boston, Texas. Stephen's wife was Laura Jane Sharp 1849-1902, born in Autauga County, Alabama and died in Bowie County, Texas.

In the 1930 Census in Dallas, Texas, Harvey D is shown as divorced.

On July 7, 1934 in Bryan County, Oklahoma Harvey D marries Dee Louise Holloman, a teacher, who passes away in 1955. They have at least one son Harvey D Letcher, Jr.

In Dallas, Texas on January 18, 1958 Harvey D married Ruth Lefeta Gililland Nash, a widow, and my grandmother (Mike Lockett). They have no children together.
