Arthur Luther Ballew, 88, of Asheville, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the WNC Baptist Retirement Home.
A native of Asheville, Mr. Ballew was a son of the late Roy J. and Hanna Lee Boone Ballew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Ballew; sons, James Herbert Ballew, Paul Gary Ballew, and Frederick Arthur Badgero; and grandson, Billy Joe Carroll, Jr.
He is survived by children, Mary Carroll and husband Bill, of Asheville, Beatrice Keller, of Monroe, NC, Ronald Ballew, of Leceister, Elaine Paz and husband Boni, of Asheville, and Rickie Ballew, of Asheville; granddaughter, Mary Stuart, whom he raised; 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Ballew will be on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home Chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Mark Penley officiating. Interment will follow at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
