Parents: Charles Franklin and Mary (Clifton) Franklin; h#1 - John Albro Little, son: John Franklin Little; h#2 - Richard H. S. Abbott; Lover - Whistler, children: Maud and Ione.

Mary was renowned artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler's model and mistress and she produced two daughters by him.

The Correspondence of James McNeil Whistler:
"Maud Mary Whistler Franklin who was born on 13 February 1879, and Ione, born on 15 October, possibly in 1876 or 1877. The child Maud died at an early age, and Ione was brought up by foster parents; she later married Warwick A. Tyler, on 14 October 1899."

NOTE: Ione is in the California Death Index with her mother's maiden name of Franklin and her father's last name as "McNeil" which was "Whistler's" middle name.

Mary Maud died 3 years before France was invaded by the Nazis. I suspect her husband buried her cremations in Marseille, France, as her "ashes were left in the custody of the undertaker there" or maybe even at their Villa Mon Gri located in Cannes-LaBoca where Mary died (named in the "Report of the Death of an American Citizen"). Her husband Richard, left France 3 years after her death because the Nazis were invading according to a news article in 1944. See Richard's FindAGrave memorial.
