While in Kansas City she met the love of her life, Edwin Wehner. The two were married on May 30, 1956 in St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict, Kansas. Six children were born to this union.
Alice worked as a school bus driver while in Kansas City. In 1973, Ed and Alice purchased as farm southwest of Sabetha. Edwin was a full time farmer and Alice was a homemaker and drove a school bus for two years in Sabetha. Later she worked at the Sabetha Manor as a cook. Alice liked keeping busy with raising a family, garden, along with many flowers. She was an active seamstress and sewed many bridesmaid dresses for her daughter’s weddings. After retirement Ed and Alice took to the roads traveling first with RV’s and later purchased a house in south Texas where they would spend the winter months.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin Wehner; two brothers, Cletus Tangeman and Francis Tangeman.
She is survived by her six children, Wanda Kaberline and her husband, Rusty, David Wehner, Donna Abrams and her husband, Jeff, Steve Wehner and his wife, Tina, Janice Dalinghaus and her husband, Dan and Eddie Wehner and his wife, Kristy; three brothers and three sisters, Emmett Tangeman and his wife, Mary Jo, Esther McMahon, Cyril Tangeman, Rita Broxterman and her husband, Charles, Leroy Tangeman and his wife, Sharon and Eileen Lake and her husband, Don and 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha with visitation to follow. The interment will be made in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery in St. Benedict.
