James LeRoy Fenton of Burley, Idaho
Born: October 28, 1925 in Rupert, Idaho
Died: January 3, 2015 in Burley, Idaho
Age: 89 years old

Burley, Idaho - James LeRoy Fenton, 89, of Burley, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at his home.

Jim was born on Oct. 28, 1925, in Rupert, Idaho, the son of Joseph LeRoy Fenton and Ruth Hazel Miller. He attended school in Rupert and continued his education at Santa Monica Community College in Santa Monica, California. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. California. He married Dona Rose Manning on Nov. 18, 1949 in Burley. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They lived in Burley where their first two children were born. They later moved to Venice, Calif., and added two more children to their family. While in Venice, Jim worked as a mechanic. During the summer months he worked as a tour bus driver in Yellowstone National Park. They later returned to Burley and farmed in the Springdale area.

He was an extremely hard worker and was a good problem solver; but, his passion was gardening! He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served where needed - from the nursery to the bishopric. He truly loved helping others. However, most important to Jim was his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dona Rose Fenton of Burley; his children, Bobbie Nix of Meridian, Wayne Fenton (Margie) of Spokane, Wash., Scott Fenton (Debra Rae) of Burley, and Kris McDaniel (Michael II) of Meridian; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Fenton (Virigina) of Sandy, Utah, and Gary Fenton (Myrna) of Odgen, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings, Dale Fenton, Ila Mayes Rose, Josephine MacKenzie, Donna Walker, Virgil Fenton, and Ronnie Fenton.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Springdale LDS Church, 519 E. 200 S., of Burley. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
