Ralph G. Bernotas, 83, of Girardville, passed away Thursday at his residence.
Born in Girardville, Nov. 18, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Anna Subich Bernotas.
Ralph worked for and was a member of the Boilermakers Union, and, prior to that, he worked in local area mines and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association.
He served in the Army as a SFC in the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Japanese Occupation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal and the Purple Heart with the 1st and 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death an infant son, Simon; brothers, John, Jerome and Vince; and sisters, Helen, Mary, Jean and Veronica.
Ralph is survived by three daughters, Susan Morgan, Philadephia, Diane Rumbel, Ringtown, and Barbara Glasbrenner, Frostburg, Md.; three sons, Ralph Bernotas, Frackville, Frank Bernotas, Allentown, and Michael Bernotas, Ringtown; three sisters, Margie Borzock, Frackville, Barbara Ressler, Schuylkill Haven, and Dorothy Staudenmeier, Conyngham; a brother, Tom Bernotas, Boundbrook, N.J.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
