James Alton "Jim" Daniel

James "Jim" A. Daniel, 78, of 310 5th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Memorial Service was at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating, with military honors.

Survivors include two daughters, a sister, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaMae; a brother, Calvin Daniel; a sister, Jean Melson; and a son-in-law, Harvey Simons.

Jim was born July 14, 1926, the son of James Isaac and Annie Belle (Melson) Daniel in Neal,[Neel] Alabama. He served with the United States Army during World War II.

On January 16, 1946, he married LaMae Bates in Midway, Alabama. Together since kindergarten and married for 55 years and longtime residents of Cedar Rapids, Jim and LaMae owned City TV Service. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bowling.
