Leona Mae Biggs, 84, of Chesterton, passed away on February 24, 2009 at her residence.

She was born August 8, 1924 in Wanatah, the daughter of Leo C. and Dora A. (Mohlke) Flitter, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by children, David (Ardith) Biggs of Chesterton and Darlene (John) Stanley of Kouts; sisters, Berniece Rhoda of Calif., Doris (Les) Friday of Chesterton;; sister-in-law, Alice Flitter of Valparaiso; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Delbert Biggs Sr. and a second husband, Norman Tesmer; a son Delbert Biggs Jr.; brother, Clarence Flitter; sister, Anna Belie Flitter and two grandchildren.

Leona was a graduate of Chesterton High School and retired from Sears as a sales clerk. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Valparaiso Moose Lodge.

Funeral mass will be at noon Friday, Feb. 27 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Special thanks to Sherry Biggs, Sandy and Leslie Friday, Father James Meade and Sue Brennan.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
