MARIETTA -- Services for Howard L. Fergueson, 88, will be Monday at Shady Dale Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Castanos officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Born Nov. 20, 1910, at Post Oak, (County?), Texas, to Simon Young and Ira Bell Langston Fergueson, he died April 9, 1999, at a Marietta hospital. He married Carmia McCain on Dec. 25, 1936, at Paducah, Texas. She preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1988. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis.
Fergueson worked as a cement finisher until his retirement from the construction industry. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include six sons, Ernest, Kingston, Norman D., Longview, Texas, Donald, Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth, Jacksonville, Texas, Larry, Marietta, and Paul, Red Oak, Texas; three daughters, Barbara Corgnell, Kingston, Betty Jolly, Shell Knob, Mo., and Ann Shafer, Kingston; one brother, James, Boswell; two sisters, Mae Towery, Thorndale, Texas, and Fay Hubbard, Austin; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are grandsons, Brandon Fergueson, Eric Fergueson, Greg Fergueson, Kelly Mason, Gilbert Mason and Gene Shafer. Honorary bearers are Sam Duggins, Sammy Duggins, Nelson Wooley and Kelvin Fergueson.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today at Kennedy Funeral Home.
