Romaine Dayton Anderson, age 88, of Eau Claire died peacefully Thursday March 7, 2013 at Dove West Reflections, surrounded by his family, after a long struggle with cancer. Romaine was born January 29, 1925 to Goodwin and Millie Anderson (Hanson) of Eleva, Wisconsin. Romaine grew up in the Eleva area working in the family grocery store and graduated from the Eleva High School in 1943. He attended Eau Claire Teacher’s College and graduated with a teaching degree. Romaine married the love of his life, Florence Nelson, and they moved to Durand, Wisconsin where he taught high school classes in chemistry, math and physics for five years. The family then moved to Eau Claire where Romaine worked as a chemist at Presto Industries. Another job opportunity brought Romaine to UniRoyal where he worked for many years in the Quality Control labs as well as a production supervisor. He eventually retired and faithfully took care of Florence who had suffered from a cerebral aneurysm. Florence preceded him in death in 2005.

Romaine enjoyed many hobbies including; CB radios, flying model airplanes and talking around the world to friends on his ham radios. He will be remembered as a loving and giving man who always had a positive outlook on life and shared his fascination with technology with his family and friends until his death. Dad was always in competition to have the newest electronic gizmo or gadget. He was a “one in a million man” and will be sadly missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Romaine is survived by four children, Teresa Pfeil (Larry), Daniel Anderson (Tammy), Eric Anderson (Mary) and Dawn Marcott (Randy). Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Stephen, Seth, Shawn, Chad, Mark, Anson, Ashton, Heather, Amanda and Ashley. Also surviving are a multitude of great-grandchildren, Maria, Teresa, William, Rachel, Samuel, Isaac, Michael, Owen, Carolyn, Tyler, Audrey, Nolan, Aiden, Carson, Cullen, Conan and Brady. Romaine is also survived by his brother Curtis Anderson (Judy) of Eau Claire, many nieces and nephews, Karen Anderson and many special friends and acquaintances.

Romaine was preceded in death by his wife Florence, his parents and his brother, Donald Anderson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Sandager and Dr. Chris Tornehl for their care and personal concern for our Dad during these trying times. We would also like to thank the staff of Dove West Palliative Care and Hospice for treating Dad like family and for the compassion they showed our entire family during our time of need.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 11th at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire with Pastor Jim Page presiding. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
