Loren Eugene Krause, 89, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, of age-related causes. He was born April 14, 1921, near Ravenna, Neb, to Clarence and Emma Ackerman Krause. Around 1933, Loren and his family moved to Lewiston. He married Wilma Heimgartner in Lewiston, and they had one son, Bill. The marriage later ended in divorce. The Krause family moved to Yakima, where Loren lived and worked for many years. There he met and married Helen Ray. He worked for Economy Fuel and Appleway Oil until he retired in 1981. He served in the U.S. Marines, in Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, in the Guadalcanal Campaign, where he was wounded. After receiving the Purple Heart, he was reassigned to Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. He was Post Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8 and was the past Grand Noble in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 22 in Yakima. He was also a member of the East Valley Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Emma; three sisters, Helen Haddix, Alice Langford and Irene Opperman; and his beloved wife, Helen. He is survived by his son, Bill and wife Debbie Krause of Lewiston; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. At his request, no services are planned and cremation has taken place.
