Elizabeth Cook was born 11 March 1792, Rockingham Co., Virginia, daughter of Henry Cook Sr. and Mary Magaline Hudlow, and died 15 September 1874 in Horse Creek Valley, Greene Co., Tennessee. She married (1) John Snapp, Jr. on 20 October 1807 in Rockingham Co., Virginia. Reference: Marriage Book 2, page 351, Rockingham County Virginia Clerk’s Office.

John Snapp, Jr. was born on June 14, 1788 at Meadow View Farm on Mill Creek in Rockingham Co., Virginia and died on 7 July 1830 at his residence located near Davy Crockett State Park, Limestone, Greene Co., Tennessee.

Note on John Snapp, Jr. He was a Captain of the 2nd Battalion of the 58th Regiment of Rockingham County Militia during the War of 1812. He was known as “Colonel John Snapp” because of his prominence as a large landowner and that it was a title of courtesy.

Elizabeth Cook Snapp married (2) Ephraim Murray 19 Jan. 1834 (1790-1836) (3) Jeremiah Prather 15 Dec. 1839. Elizabeth Cook is buried in the Burgner-Snapp Cemetery off Route 107 near Horse Creek with her third husband, Jeremiah Prather. The cemetery today has more or less been abandoned as all the tombstones or memorial stones are gone and nothing remains of the cemetery.
