Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Abel Ramirez Florez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Fr. Francis Lazer will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Thursday beginning at 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Abel was born February 24, 1931 in Presidio, Texas; the son of Manuel Florez and Aurelia (Ramirez) Florez. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

On April 27, 1952 he was married to Alicia Valenzuela in Lake Arthur, N.M.

Abel was a truck driver for Eddy County Roads and a ifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and a Crusillista. Abel enjoyed singing in the choir and at most family functions, and he also loved gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Florez; brothers Sammy, Danny, Israel, and Roberto; and a great-grandson Izaak Carrasco.
