Chester R. "Chet" Troxell, age 90, former resident of W. Gaylord Ave., Shelby died Thursday, October 30, 2003 in MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.
Born April 15, 1913 in Shiloh he was the son of Mark Elmer and Mary (Moury) Troxell. A 1931 graduate of Shiloh High School, he served in the US Navy for four years where he was trained in sheet metal work. This became a life-long profession as owner of Troxell Sheet Metal Shop in Shelby. During WWII he was recalled to service for the military as a war materiel inspector. Chet was a charter member of the Shelby Club, enjoyed golfing as a member of the Shelby Country Club, traveled with the local Wally Byam Airstream group and was a faithful, active member of the First Lutheran Church of Shelby.
Survivors inlcude his wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Lybarger) Troxell, whom he wed Sept. 4, 1936; two daughters, Nola and Richard Donley of Elletsville, IN and Diane and Tom Schull of Danville, CA; eight grandhildren and their spouses; Karen and Mark Loehr of Newburgh, IN; Denis and Karen DuVall in Alaska; Scott DuVall of Columbus; Tiffany and Larry Jenkins of Westerville, OH; Angie and Joe Lynch of San Jose, CA; David and Lorelei Schull of Denver, CO; Amy and Mark Malatesta of San Ramon, CA and Daniel Schull of Pleasanton, CA; 11 great-grandchildren; Adam and Michelle Loehr; Joshua and Daniel DuVall; Andrew Jenkins; Megan, Claire, and Grace Lynch; Kaylynn, Isaac, and Ethan Schull; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert and Betty Troxell of Worthington; Kenny and Thelma Troxell of Miamisburg and Helen Troxell of Mansfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith DuVall; one sister, Edith Fackler; two brothers, Harry and Dale Troxell; brother-in-law, Stu Fackler and sister-in-law, Clarice Troxell.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Ron Wells will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Memorial expressions may be made to the church or the charity of one's choice.
