Lillian Murphy, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015. She was born in Daviess County to the late Thomas and Rose Kaelin Hayden. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Martin Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Murphy in 1998; a daughter, Monica J. Gilstrap; a son-in-law, Chris Thompson; a great granddaughter, Emily Daugherty; five sisters, Mary Margaret “Monnie” Rivet; Gilbert Jean “Duppy” Cecil; Anna Marie Stewart; Dorothy Jane “Dottie” Pate; Mary Emma Reisz; and two brothers, Martin Thomas “Buddy” Hayden, and a twin brother Leslie Matthew Hayden

She is survived by five sons, Thomas A. (Teri) Murphy of Owensboro, Bruce Murphy of Utica, Marvin (Tammy) Murphy of Owensboro, Larry R. Murphy of Utica, and Kevin L. Murphy of Owensboro; five daughters, Barbara Anita Murphy of Evansville, Ind., Sandra L. Thompson of Philpot, Esther L. (Paul) Clouse of Madisonville, Debi L. Murphy of Sylvania, Ga., and Donna S. Lyles of Owensboro; a son-in-law, Gerald Gilstrap of Owensboro; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe (Jean) Yeand; a sister, Barbara (Tom) Norvell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Raphael Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Haley McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
