Texie Lee Greene, age 94, of Spruce Pine went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 11th , 2015. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Columbus and Bertie Sparks Ledford. Texie was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Greene; a daughter, Eula Surette and a son-in-law, Paul Hughes. She was known as a greeter at Blue Ridge Hospital for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling, working crossword and word search puzzles and crafts. Texie was a precious mother and grandmother who loved people. She was a wonderful joy to her family and anyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two sons: Richard Greene, of Spruce Pine, and Johnny Greene and wife, Nancy, also of Spruce Pine; a daughter, Beulah Hughes of Georges Fork; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren and four great, great, great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. David Garland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
