SAN ANGELO — Wilson W. "Snook" Atwood, age 93, of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in a local nursing facility. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Trull officiating. He was born on Aug. 31, 1912, in Paint Rock, Texas, to Thomas J. and Margaret Annis New Atwood. He married EDITH ROENA (ROACH) ATWOOD on Oct. 7, 1935, in Ballinger. They were married for 65 years before she preceded him in death on May 11, 1990. Wilson worked for 25 years as an ambulance driver for Johnson's Funeral Home (Cox Ambulance), and then worked there for more than 10 years as a greeter. It was a rare occasion when "Snook" and his brother "Boots" weren't out "coon" hunting. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Harvey, Evans, Dudley and E.R. "Boots"; sisters Clara Williams and BESSIE (ATWOOD) LANDERS ; and his daughter, JUDY (ATWOOD) SETTLES . He is survived by his loving granddaughter, Candace Anne Sage; sister Effie Bilbrey; brother VICK ATWOOD ; and several nieces and nephews.
