BUDWELL, Leigh Carter D.D.S., 90, of Richmond and Cobbs Creek, died January 8, 2015. Born in Richmond, he was the son of the late Leigh and Martha Budwell. He attended VES, Thomas Jefferson and St. Christopher's, was a graduate of Virginia Tech and a 1950 graduate of the MCV School of Dentistry. Dr. Budwell served in the United States Air Force Dental Corps. He is survived by his wife, Jane Cavan Budwell; his daughter, Virginia Budwell Heindl; two sons, Leigh Carter Budwell Jr. and John Spencer Budwell; four grandchildren, Leigh Carter Budwell III, James Lindsey Budwell, Katherine Margaret Budwell and Anne Carter Budwell; and one great-granddaughter, Grace Budwell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Budwell Stoll. Dr. Budwell served on the part-time faculty for the MCV School of Dentistry, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association of the Medical College of Virginia. He was a former member of the Mathews Yacht Club, Deep Run Hunt Club, the Country Club of Virginia and Kingston Parish in Mathews. Dr. Budwell was a member of River Road Church, Baptist. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 12 at River Road Church, Baptist. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to River Road Church, Baptist, 8000 River Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229.
