Alex Kustra was a veteran of World War II and the Korean having served in the US Navy. He was a Chicago Police Detective for 27 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors included his sons: John Kustra and his wife Marge, of Chicago; and Greg Kustra and his wife Luann’ of Carroll; a daughter Cindy Maturo , of New Haven, Conn; grandchildren: Richard Kustra, Ted Maturo, Clark Maturo, and Katie Kustra; a brother Julius Kustra and his wife Connie, of Crest Hill Illinois; a sister in law Elma Garbiar of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Wilhelmine Kustra and Bernice Williamson; brothers in law: Edward Garbiar and Steve Garbiar; and a sister in law Geraldine Garbiar.
