Alexander Kustra, age 82, died Feb 13, 2006, at St Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Frank Kustra and Josephine (Jamroz) Kustra in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Fenger HS in Chicago. He was married to Anne T Garbiar on Jan 22 1949, at St Adrian Church in Chicago.

Alex Kustra was a veteran of World War II and the Korean having served in the US Navy. He was a Chicago Police Detective for 27 years before retiring in 1980. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police.

Survivors included his sons: John Kustra and his wife Marge, of Chicago; and Greg Kustra and his wife Luann’ of Carroll; a daughter Cindy Maturo , of New Haven, Conn; grandchildren: Richard Kustra, Ted Maturo, Clark Maturo, and Katie Kustra; a brother Julius Kustra and his wife Connie, of Crest Hill Illinois; a sister in law Elma Garbiar of Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Wilhelmine Kustra and Bernice Williamson; brothers in law: Edward Garbiar and Steve Garbiar; and a sister in law Geraldine Garbiar.
