Hattie died due to delayed complications from childbirth. Family stories indicate that Hattie's husband Edd and his brother Morris purchased 4 spaces in the Oak Grove Cemetery and that Edd had Hattie laid to rest in one of them, no headstone marks her grave. Contact was made with the Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas as they handled burial arrangements for Jobe Thomas and Melinda Boyd who are also buried in Oak Grove. They could not confirm that Hattie is buried in that cemetery but felt reasonably comfortable stating that she most likely is resting there. Until I receive some definitive proof showing otherwise, I am leaving Hattie's memorial connected to the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Hattie's death certificate lists her father as John McKown, mother's maiden name is unknown and not listed. The 1900 Jack Co., federal census suggests Hattie's given name is Harriet and that her parents are John H. McKown born Nov. 1855, Texas and Rebecca L. McKown born Oct. 1855 Texas.

Hattie's siblings are listed as follows: Mollie L. (dob June 1880, TX); Fannie E. (dob April 1882, TX); Alta R. (dob April 1884, TX); Uell (dob Feb. 1886, TX); John H. (dob Dec 1892, TX); and Caddie L. (dob Dec 1897, TX).
