The Connecticut Courant (Hartford, Connecticut)
Wednesday, September 2, 1807, p. 3, col. 3.
"DIED—Mrs. Mary Seymour, consort of Thomas Seymour, Esq. Mayor of the City of Hartford. Mrs. Seymour was a daughter of the late John Ledyard, Esq. and was born at Groton, in the year 1735. To surviving friends her death is a severe stroke, and she will be very greatly and deservedly lamented by them. In the various relations of life, which she was called to sustain, she conducted with singular propriety, discharging all the social and relative duties with great fidelity. While in this way she entitled herself to the warmest affection of her family and friends, she rendered herself still more worthy of their esteem and respect by her amiable and exemplary piety. On the evening of the 27th ult. after a few days painful and distressing illness, she terminated her earthly course, and, as there is reason to believe, entered on an eternal state of glory and happiness. The memory of the just is blessed."
