Notice has been received here that Mrs Willie Brookreson Griggs, former Abilenian and Buffalo Gap resident, died July 12 at Pomona Valley Community hospital following a short illness. Funderal services were held last Wednesday at Pomona with burial in the Pomona cemetery by the side of her husband. Members of the O.E.S. were in charge of the burial services at the grave. Mrs Griggs was born in Washington, Ark., on October 15, 1860. Her maiden name was Willie Herbert (sic) Burt, daughter of William and Crucilla (sic) Johnstone (sic) Burt. In 1887, she came to Buffalo Gap with her parents and married Henry Thaddeus Brookreson, deceased. After living in Buffalo Gap, they moved to Abilene where they operated the old Palace Hotel. Surviving relatives are four daughters, Mrs. Ossie Burt Griffin, Pomona; Mrs. Lola Brookreson Schreiber, Arkadelphia, Ark.; Mrs. Gladys Brookreson Legg, Electric Mills, Miss., and Mrs. Avadne Brookreson Poore, Pomona; and six grandchildren.
