Services for Ottis Marvin Brown, 83, of Courtney, were held Wednesday, March 12, at the Courtney United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patti McCall officiating.

Mr. Brown was born September 3, 1919, in Rover, Arkansas, the son of William John and Bertha Mae Ward Brown. He died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Mercy Health-Love County Hospital, Marietta.

Raised in Arkansas and Texas, he and Clara Louise Dewbre were married December 15, 1940, in Casa Grande, Arizona. They had 62 years of hard work with lots of travel. Mr. Brown worked as a farm laborer and picked fruit. He also worked as a heavy equipment operator, living in many states during his working years. In 1985, they moved from California to Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Clara of the home; two daughters, Betty Jo McCormick and Barbara Ann Long, both of Strathmore, California; three sons, David Neal Brown of Strathmore, Floyd W. Brown of Selah, Washington and Paul Dee Brown of Mena, Arkansas; two sisters, Willa Mae Huhn of Tama, Iowa and Ruth Smith of Woodlake, California; two brothers, Jimmy Wayne Brown of Strathmore and Harold Brown of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Marvin Brown in 1995; two sisters, Erma Grace Williams and Martha Nell Brown; and a brother, Joe Henry Brown.

Pallbearers were Johnny Dewbre, Mickey Dewbre, Doyle Dewbre, Tankie Spivey, Donald Ray Byrd and Bill Dewbre.

Interment was in Petersburg Cemetery, under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Ringling.
