Marjorie graduated from Normandin Middle School as president of her graduating class and was a 1933 graduate of the New Bedford High School. As a youth she belonged to the Rainbow Girls Majority Club. She was keenly interested in the town of New Bedford and was a poll taker during the voting seasons. In addition, she was an active member of The Centre Trinity United Methodist Church and had the pleasure being the congregation’s “Sunshine Girl,” in charge of writing cards of encouragement and congratulations to its members. She was also member of the Church’s WSCS Woman’s Group. She enjoyed helping to participate in the Methodist Church’s Ham and Bean Suppers.
Marjorie is survived by two grandchildren, Beth L. Leger and her husband Ron of Billerica, and David F. Ashworth of Boylston, MA; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Ronnie Leger, as well as nephews, friends and neighbors who greatly contributed to her happiness in life. Her voice was like a song and we will miss her sound.
Her funeral service will be held in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by interment in Acushnet Cemetery.
