Our dear mother, Laura Nadine Fondong, passed away December 26, 2014. She was born 94 years ago, October 18, on the Mt Pleasant Ridge farm of her parents, Charles and Mary (Geeskie) Andrews. She grew up there with her four sisters and four brothers. After graduating from business college, Mom worked in Anderson and then Indianapolis at Stout Field and RCA. On April 20, 1946 she married our wonderful father, Clarence Fondong. Five years later they moved back to Mt Pleasant where they lived for 58 years, raising us on their 54-acre farm. Dad worked at the I&M power plant and on the farm while Mom stayed at home busy with four daughters. She spent countless hours sewing dresses, freezing and canning from the garden, volunteering at church, guiding the Busy Bees 4-H Club and chauffeuring young people everywhere. Mom later enjoyed a return to the workplace at IRS. From youth, she was an avid Reds fan and joined her family at the stadium as recently as 2013. Mom will be deeply missed by her family. Her daughters and sons-in-law are Connie Fondong, Sandy Exline, Cathy and Joel Hietbrink and Gaynelle and Andy Junga. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Sarah and Brian Witzig (Leah), Jason and Jenny Hietbrink (Tate and Jayde), Phillip Exline, Trent and Tia Junga and Trevor Junga. Mom is also survived by a brother, Wilford Andrews, a sister-in-law, Edith Russell, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30 at Fitch-Denney from 9:30 – 10:30 with the funeral following at 10:30. Memorial contributions, care of Fitch-Denney, may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Fund.
