J.C. Pemberton, born Mar. 24, 1926, in Marshall, AR, to Charles and Ella (Horton) Pemberton, died Apr. 26, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son; and two brothers, L.D. (Devon) and Charles W. Pemberton. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma F. Knowles Pemberton; two sons, Rodney and Sue Pemberton, and Roy and Connie Pemberton; brother, Darrell Pemberton and sister, Berthell Stephenson; grandchildren, Travis, Jill, Derrick and Jamie, and Trevor Pemberton, and Jesse Boyd. J.C. joined the Navy in March 1944 and served until 1947 where he finished his HS degree. He loved flying, and obtained his private pilots license after leaving the service. He was an ordained Deacon, a S.S. teacher, and a truck driver for Transcon Freight Lines with several million accident-free miles, retiring in 1989 after 35 years of driving. He and Norma moved to Maud, OK and lived there for 30 years, thoroughly enjoying country life. He loved to hunt, fish, and raise cattle. Services will be Sat., Apr. 29, at 2:00pm, at Bethany First Baptist Church with interment in Bethany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Hospice of OK County. MERCER-ADAMS
