Rose Kemmer Anderson, 99, died peacefully Saturday morning, Jan. 3, 2015. Born on Dec. 23, 1915, in Graysville, TN, to Nola Moon and Robert W. Kemmer, she graduated from City High School and the University of Chattanooga. In 1936 she moved to New York City where she worked for H. I. Williams, a commercial photographer. There she met the love of her life, Leslie Gordon Anderson, who died in 1964.

A member of 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, she collected books for missionaries through Readers Service at Stony Point, NY. In 1965 she received a masters degree in library science from Rutgers University and served as head librarian at Queens College in Charlotte, NC.and Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC.

Her sister, Virginia Ratliff, died in 2011.

She is survived by a son, Kemmer (Martha) Anderson of Chattanooga; a sister, Bobbie Jo Kemmer of California; and two nieces, Jane Ratliff Meenach of Lexington, KY, and Laura Ratliff Castrucci, of West Harrison, IN.

The family wishes to thank Jennifer Jones, Angela Ashley, and Theresa Brown for their faithful service, as well as Hospice of Chattanooga.

Memorials may be made to the Chattanooga Public Library for the Robert and Nola Moon Kemmer Memorial Fund.

A family graveside service will be held at the Spring City Cemetery.
