Norma E. Leitch of Winlock passed away March 22, 2011, at home. She was born in Chehalis Oct. 22, 1925, to Paul and Alberta Hill. Norma grew up in Ryderwood, graduating from Ryderwood High School in 1944.

Immediately after high school, Norma went to work for Boeing as a drill press operator until the war ended and she returned to Ryderwood to work at the Ryderwood Mercantile. She was a nurse for Dr. Fishbach in Winlock for 21 years and worked along side her husband, Bob Leitch, at the Winlock Rexall until retirement. Her twin sister, Lorna, brought her out of retirement to work the Christmas season at Green Mountain Evergreens in Castle Rock for many years.

Norma loved to volunteer. For the past 10 years, she was a Washington State Ombudsmen, enjoying the interaction she had with many facilities she visited. She was one of the founding members of the Winlock Lioness Club. She headed the most popular event of Egg Day, spearheading the shelling of eggs and construction of 1500 egg salad sandwiches each year. She had the natural ability to recruit helpers to assist. She was the driving force behind the success of the Lioness coffee stops, fireworks booths and Walk-n-Knock. The Winlock Lioness have lost a great and devoted friend. She was also one of the original EMTs for the Winlock Volunteer Fire Department.

Family was very important to Norma. She hosted family picnics for many years at her home. Her hobbies included traveling and pampering her companion cat, Percy.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Leitch; and former husbands, Luther Fleming and John Miller. Norma is survived by a son, Paul Fleming of Castle Rock; a twin sister, Lorna Goldsby of Castle Rock; two stepchildren, Dough Leitch and Cathy Leitch (Bob Delaney), both of Olympia; a grandson; and three stepgranddaughters.

A memorial service was held at the Castle Rock Christian Church. Pastor John Lessler officiated. Private burial was held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Animal Shelter. Arrangements were by Cattermole Funeral Home.
