Mary Lillian Ahern was born at Albion, Nebraska, on August 14, 1894. She was the daughter of James Duffy and Elizabeth Burke. She was married to John Ahern on January 29, 1917 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, Nebraska. They made their home at Carroll, Nebraska, the first two years after they were married and then moved to a farm near Madelia, Minnesota. They retired in 1960 and in 1972 moved from the farm to Madelia.

Lillian died at St. James, Minnesota, on January 5, 1976. Her funeral was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madelia on January 8, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. She was survived by four sons, two daughters, 20 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; also, one sister, Mrs. Bridgetta Frauenholtz of Madelia. She was preceded in death by a grandson, six brothers and four sisters.
