Marie's name at birth was Hi Yong Ri. She had been abandoned as an infant and placed in an orphanage in Seoul, Korea. Milton "Jim" Williams, nephew to Catherine, picked Marie out in the orphanage while he was serving in the US military in Korea. She came to the US in April 1956, and her adoption by William & Catherine was completed on January 13, 1958.
