Mrs. Christina Schraub
Mrs. Chrisina Schraub, 90, died Monday, September 26, from infirmities of old age at her home, 66 Dayan Street, Lowville.
Born in the Town of New Bremen, December 31, 1858, she was the daughter of Nicholas J. and Susan Turck Lomber. Together with her first husband, Jacob Strife, they opened and operated the Strife House for many years. Later she married Fred C. Schraub after which she moved to her home on Dayan street. Mr. Schraub died October 8, 1938. She was a member of Saint Peter's church, Lowville.
Surviving are three sisters, Miss Rose Lomber and Mrs. Josephine Randolph of Lowville and Mrs. Fred C. Pierce of Croghan; one brother, Louis N. Lomber of Beach Hill. There are also several nieces and nephews.
The body was brought to Virklers funeral home where friends called Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Services were held at 10 a.m. from Saint Peter's church, Thursday and burial was made in Rural cemetery.
