1939-2014

Mr. Don DeBard, 75, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Don was born on May 1, 1939, in Crawfordsville, to the now late Leland and Edith (James) DeBard. He was a 1957 graduate of Dover High School, where he was very active in sports. He joined the United States Air Force in 1958, and served through 1962. While in the Air Force, he achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, playing basketball for the Island of Crete and for the Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska.

He was married to JoAnn Adams in 1962. After 25 years of marriage they divorced, and he never remarried.

Don had been employed by three Ford dealerships, until he was employed by Paul Harvey Ford, where he worked for 20 years as service manager. While at Harvey Ford, he served on the National Service Managers Council for one year, and received many awards for outstanding service for Ford dealers. In his later years, he helped on the farm of Jerry and Jim Randel.

He was a member of Dover Christian Church and a life-member of the Elks. He belonged to the American Legion and was a former member of the Eagle Lodge. He enjoyed all sports, especially watching his grandkids play football, wrestling, tennis and baseball. He also enjoyed watching them act in school plays.

Survivors include three sons, Darrin (Yvonne) DeBard, Damon DeBard and Doug DeBard, all of Lebanon; one granddaughter, Brianne (Josh) Martin; five grandsons, Joshua DeBard, Jacob DeBard, Adam DeBard, Lucas DeBard and Colton DeBard; great-grandson, Jaxson Martin; two nieces, Sue (Dick) Timmons and Roxy (Phil) Birge; and special friend, Dorothy Richardson.
