Vanona Reidy, 85, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002. Mrs. Reidy was born Jan. 1, 1917, a daughter of the late Calvin and Adelia Woodruff. She enjoyed flowers, dress making, and anything that involved helping others. Vanona was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, N.Y., and a retired worker at Bendix Corporation in Montrose, Pa., and a self-employed beautician.Vanona was pre-deceased by her first husband, Ralph Stanton in 1970; step-son Joseph Reidy; and great-grandson Roger Chilson. Survivors include her husband, Daniel J. Reidy Jr.; daughters, Marion Brown of Spring Hill, Fla., Pat (Bob) Grimes of Mercur, Pa., Nancy (Ted) Hoffman of Wyalusing, Pa., and Sandy (John) Balonis of Fort Myers, Fla.; sons Henry (Beverly) Stanton of Silvara, Pa., Don (Sharon) Reidy of Horseheads, N.Y., and Jack (Sundae) Reidy of Mansfield, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces Beatrice Sturgenegger of Lakeland, Fla., and Esther Wetherill of Fort Myers, Fla., and several cousins and a host of friends. A prayer service will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at 9 a.m. at the Van Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home, Mill Street and Grand Central Avenue, Horseheads, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 Broad Street, Horseheads, N.Y. at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Christopher E. Linsler celebrant. Interment will be immediately following in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, N.Y.
