FUNERAL TO BE THURSDAY

The death of Christian A. Abele, age 75 years, occurred at 5:30 a.m. today at his home 617 West Franklin street, following an illness of one and one half years of heart trouble and dropsy. The deceased was a well known citizen and had been in the tailoring business on West Broadway for many years.

Mr. Abele was a native of Germany, having been born in Waldhausen, state of Wurtemburg, September 9, 1851. He came to this country when young and since March 1, 1881 had lived in this city. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Winters, September 9, 1874.

Immediately after coming to Shelbyville, Mr. Abele went into the tailoring business with Albert Arzet, whose death occurred in 1913. Since that time Mr. Abele has continued in business by himself.

Surviving Mr. Abele with the widow are two sons, Frank Abele, of Seymour and Charles J. Abele, of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Buendert, of Chicago; Mrs. Edith Whisman and Mrs. Stella Klund of this city, and four grandchildren.

He took a prominent part in affairs of the Masonic lodge of which he was a member, and was especially active in Baldwin Commandery, No. 2, Knights Templar. He was a member and an officer of the First Baptist church of this city and for many years had been a member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias and Ben Hur lodges of this city.

Funeral services will be held at the home at two o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. I. C. Overman, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Morris Sleeth, funeral director.
