Private family graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, with burial in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
John Francis Fort was born July 17, 1913, in Davenport, the son of Herbert and Henrietta (Stevens) Fort. He received his education in the Davenport schools. He married Emma Wilcken on July 3, 1937, in Davenport. He was employed as a truck driver by Wilson Coal and Appliance Company, until he retired in 1976. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and his pet dog. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Emma; three daughters, Sandra (John) Mangels, Norma (David) Haglund and Ruth (Richard) Hunt, all of Davenport; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gray of Bettendorf and Mary Mann of Wynpoate, OK; two brothers, James Fort and Robert Fort, both of Davenport; one sister-in-law, Mary Fort of Danville, IL; and one brother-in-law, Henry Bruhn of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Bruhn, three brothers, George, William and Richard Fort and one brother-in-law, Raymond Beale.
