Orville “Jack” Dobkins, 67 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Jack was born on March 23rd, 1947, son of the late Josh and Mary Adams Dobkins. (He was indeed a “Jack” of many trades. While he excelled at most of these, he mastered the greatest one…through all of life’s journey, his deepest desire was to be a good man. He was a man of great wit and wisdom, peace and patience, compassion and kindness. If you knew my Jack, you were blessed by him. If you were loved by him, you experienced the purest expression of unconditional love. Jack wasn’t just a good man he was the best man I have ever known. -Stacy Skillman.)

Jack was survived by his partner of 18 years, Kathy Griffis; one daughter, Stacy (and Bill) Skillman of Greenwood, Indiana; one brother, John Randall of Somerset, Kentucky; one sister, Marlene (and Randall) Phelps of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Josh Dobkins and Mary Dobkins; a host of brothers and sisters; and one son, Josh Alan Dobkins.

Visitations were held after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 at the Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 in the Chapel of the Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory with Pastor Steve Schellin officiating.

Interment followed in the Acorn Cemetery.

THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF JACK,

1 Thessalonians 4. 16-18
(King James Version)

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
