Agnew Rites Set Sunday at Ballinger
Ballinger, Dec. 20 (RNS) – Funeral for Henry Gilbert Agnew, 71, former oilman and Ballinger funeral home operator who died Thursday night in Ballinger Clinic Hospital, has been tentatively set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church. Mr. Agnew suffered a heart attack. He was born Dec. 9, 1886, in Ella, Pa., and came to Texas in 1918. He settled in Ranger during the oil boom and moved here in 1927. In 1936 he established the Agnew Funeral Home which he operated until 1947 at which time he sold it to Newby-Davis. He married the former Hazel Craig in 1908. She died in 1918 and he then married the former Treva Polk in 1929. Officiating will be the Rev. E. R. Gordon, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ballinger Cemetery under direction of Newby-Davis Funeral home. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Burl of Odessa, L. M. of Baton Rouge, La., and Bob of Houston; five daughters, Mrs. Maxine Robinson of Lima, Ohio, Mrs. E. F. Hyman of Loraine, Ohio, Mrs. Ralph Fulton of Clarion, Pa., Mrs. A. B. Hale of Loring AFB, Maine, and Mrs. Williams Pue of Valles, Mexico, and a sister, Mrs. Art Tucker, South Gate, Calif. The family requests that remembrances be in the form of donations to the Heart Fund. Frank M. Pierce is treasurer of the Fund and such should be sent him, the family said.

His grandchildren born to Marion Maxine Agnew & Robert Scott Mays: Scotty Gilbert Mays; Cleo Malcom Mays; Larry Clyde Mays; Robert Delano Mays; Kay Elaine Mays & Marion Lee Mays (all born in OK).
