RAGING BULL GORES WOMAN IN FARMYARD

Mrs. Joseph C. Knight Dies in Chambersburg Hospital From Injuries

Funeral on Saturday

Mrs. Joseph C. Knight, the former Lucy Mable Cisney, Newburg, R. R. 1, died Wednesday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock in the Chambersburg hospital after she had been severely gored by a bull at their farm. Mrs. Knight was taken to the hospital in the Cumberland Valley ambulance, accompanied by Dr. G. S. Warner.

The accident occurred Wednesday morning. There are no witnesses of the attack. According to reports, a neighbor Mrs. Murray Swanger, called Mrs. Knight and told her that the bull had strayed from the Knight farm to the Swanger farm. Mrs. Knight then went after the strayed animal and succeeded in bringing him back to the farm, but apparently lost control of the bull after she reached the farmyard. Around 11 o'clock Mr. Knight returned from Shippensburg where he had gone after some visitors and found his wife lying in the yard, near the gate to the house yard. Apparently Mrs. Knight had tried to dray herself into the house, but was unable to do so. The bull was still running loose around the barnyard.

It is believed Mrs. Knight lay in a half-conscious state for over an hour, before her husband returned. He immediately brought her to Shippensburg to Dr. Warner.

The bull which attacked Mrs. Knight is of a very vicious and ferocious nature and neighbors reported that it had strayed from the farm frequently and had threatened the lives of other persons.

Mrs. Knight was born December 26, 1909 near Shippensburg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Cisney, who now reside at Shippensburg R. R. 3. She attended the Orrstown Lutheran Church. For many years she worked at Grants and Mike Billys in Shippensburg.

Surviving are her parents, her husband, and the following brothers and sisters; Aaron Cisney, Alfred Cisney, Mrs. Norman Rotz, Mrs. Robert Eyer, Daisy Cisney, all of Orrstown; Charles B. Cisney, Patricia Cisney, both at home; Alva Cisney, Trenton, New Jersey; Mrs. Bruce Myers, Shippensburg; Mrs. Charles Zollinger, Shippensburg, R. R. 3; Mrs. Donald Shoop, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the J. Beattie Barbour funeral home with the Rev. W. J. Schultz, Orrstown Lutheran Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill cemetery.

Friends may view the body at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
