TEXAS CITY —BurnaDean “Dean” Whitener, 87, of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Mainland Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City with the Rev. Mike Tyson officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 also at Emken Linton Funeral Home. Burial in Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dean was born on September 1, 1925 in Hickory, North Carolina. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of house and home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Lula (Beard) Sain; husband Cliff Whitener; sisters Ofielia Sain and Kate Hines; and brother Richard Sain.

She is survived by son Roger Whitener and wife Kerry of Texas City; grandchildren Aaron Whitener and wife Stacie and Derek Whitener and wife Christina; great-grandchildren Bryce Whitener and Zachary Whitener; sisters Ruth Hilton, Frankie Bass, Eva Bass, and Betty Sain; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
