EAST PRAIRIE -- Virginia Hopgood, 77, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 24, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 12, 1927, at Newlton, La., daughter of the late Hogan and Junie Tiner Thatcher, she lived most of her life in East Prairie where she was a retired cashier and manager of the First Bank of East Prairie and a member of the Church of Christ.
On June 24, 1948, at Corinth, Miss., she married Billie Jean Hopgood who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1986.
Three brothers also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Vicki Hopgood of Rolla and Donald and Barbara Hopgood of New Baden, Ill.; five sisters, Dorothy Larkins of Clinton, Ky., Norma Wilson and Barbara Herrington of Mt. View, Ark., Shirley Stephens of Pampa, Texas, and Eulene Davis of Lake Village, Ark.; one brother, DeWitt Thatcher of Thayer; and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. Aubrey Wilson and Pat Hogan will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Bobby Hopgood, Aaron Hopgood, Christian Rogerson, Keith Marshall, Mike Larkins and Richard Hilton.
