Carlton was born on July 14, 1952 in Haughton, LA to the late Casper Warren and Ruth Ovada (Bolton) Carter. He served as Captain in the United States Marine Corps from 1975 to 1985 and was the owner of Carter Forestry and Wildlife Services, Inc.
He was a member of the North Acres Baptist Church for 24 years where he served as a trustee and a member of the First Baptist Church in McNeil where he served as a Deacon; a member of the VFW Post 3; a member and past Chairman of the Arkansas Tree Farmers Association and was a member of the Arkansas Forestry Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Amanda Carter ; and sister Patsy Carter.
Carlton is survived by his wife of 24 glorious years Sharon Carter of Waldo; sons Chris ”Kit” Carter and wife Carley of Bayamon, Puerto Rico and Patrick Carter of Magnolia; daughters Shauna Hudman Phillips and husband Jason of Camden, Sabra Hudman Young and husband Jeremy of Camden; grandchildren Savanna Duey, Saydie Phillips, Adelyn Carter, Coleton Carter, Cash Wyatt Carter, and Bryson Young; brother Jerry Carter and wife Barbara and their children Courtney and Jared of Doyline, LA; sister Darlene Hay and husband David and their daughter Katie of Haughton, LA; niece Christy Gates of Doyline, LA; mother and father-in-law Emma Jean and Billy Smithwick of Waldo; special friends Troy Odom, Robbie Sweeney, Oliver “Big O” Bordon, Jose Lopez, Blanca Gonzales, Dale Nix and wife Christon and their daughters Hunter and Raegan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in McNeil with Bro. Kyle Callaway officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery in Waldo under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Bird, Tim Pace, Sam Sharp, Mark Fullenwider, Jerry Hoffmann, Travis Smith, Rodney Carey, Jimmy Ogle, and David Brown.
